Our lady surf instructors say the Daniela is their go-to bikini bottom for teaching: it doesn’t ride up or down no matter how rough the whitewash, and they keep our instructors looking professional. While the Daniela has more material than the Laura, these are NOT granny-panty bikini bottoms. In fact, the Daniela maintains a little cheekiness (literally and figuratively), which our surfers agree eliminates any risk of looking frumpy, but the full frontal coverage and double lining keeps you decent. As with the Laura, the Daniela comes with more material between the legs than other bottoms. At first our surfers thought this felt unusual. But once they got in the water they realized how genius that bit of extra fabric is… because it means none of your bits come out which, let’s be honest, is sometimes the real reason we paddle back out with our legs crossed. Most importantly, the Daniela stays on in the surf: the adjustable drawstring protects your decency (and other surfers from being blinded by the un-tanned portion of your booty), and so far the cut of the leg holes seem universally secure and comfortable for our testers of all shapes and sizes.
Some of our surfers prefer the Laura over the Daniela because the Daniela has too much fabric for their taste. And because the Daniela does have more fabric, it is more likely to move around and bunch up if your tush is on the petite side.
The Daniela and the Laura both fit true to size or run slightly small. Therefore, if you do not want your bottoms too tight or are between sizes, we recommend that you size up.
